GEMSTAR-TV GUIDE AND TELE 7 JOURS LAUNCH BRANDED VERSION OF GUIDE PLUS+ EPG IN THE FRENCH MARKET

July 20th, 2006 (Los Angeles, CA) - Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMST), announced today that the Télé 7Jours branded GUIDE Plus+^® EPG has launched in France. Beginning today, French users of Gemstar-TV Guide's EPG will be able to utilize Télé 7 Jours recommendations, previews and reviews delivered directly to their TV screens

The GUIDE Plus+ system is a subscription-free, seven-day EPG built directly into consumer electronics products. It allows consumers to quickly and easily navigate, sort, select, and schedule television programming for viewing or recording, simply by pressing a button. The GUIDE Plus+ system is designed for the new generation of digital products such as DVD-Recorders, Personal Video Recorders (PVRs) and integrated digital televisions. It is already a feature of the digital recording products of major consumer electronics manufacturers such as Sony, Pioneer, Philips, Panasonic, JVC and Sharp. A leader in television guidance and entertainment, Gemstar-TV Guide is best known in France as the creator and provider of the ShowView^® recording technology.

Launched in 1960, Télé 7 Jours has over 40 years of experience in guiding viewers to the best programming available on TV. The N°1 magazine and the leader in the TV magazine in France, Télé 7 Jours serves the needs of a broad family audience by offering a clear, rich and diversified content both in the listings and magazine sections. For the GUIDE Plus+ system, Télé 7 Jours’ team of editorial specialists will deliver daily recommendations of the very best programs to watch in four major categories: Movies, Sport, Children and Other. The magazine’s experts watch and evaluate the available programs, giving GUIDE Plus+ users the information they need to plan their viewing time effectively. Télé 7 Jours’ movie ratings will also be available on the GUIDE Plus+ EPG providing users with insightful reviews and helpful synopses as well as Télé 7 Jours’ well-known “7” rankings.

Télé 7 Jours is uniquely positioned to build on its brand heritage and TV industry experience to launch a Télé 7 Jours-branded version of the GUIDE Plus+ EPG in France. In addition to the flagship magazine, Télé 7 Jours also offers its readers access to TV listings via its Web site at www.tele7jours.com. The expansion into an EPG format through the GUIDE Plus+ system is a logical extension for Télé 7 Jours as it offers readers new ways to access and enjoy its premium content. The GUIDE Plus+ EPG combines TV listings information about what’s on, not only for analogue terrestrial channels, but also for digital terrestrial cable and satellite offerings.

The selling of the advertising space on the GUIDE Plus+ system will be managed by Hachette Filipacchi Médias advertising sales house, Interdeco.
